TITLE: BUILDING MAINTENANCE - FOREPERSON

STARTING DATE: December 1, 2025
SALARY RANGE: Job Group 16 - $61,308.94 - $76,523.47
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the supervision of the Director of Facilities
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Participates in the daily maintenance and upkeep of all facilities and campus residences. Assists with and oversees the work of contractors such as HVAC, plumbers, etc.. Performs custodial duties when required. The position of foreperson is identified as essential in weather and other emergencies.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Install and repair hardware such as locks, hinges, faucets and handles.

Paint, install, tile, repair doors, windows and locks, replace glass and perform a multitude of other maintenance functions.

Ensure that all systems, ladders, scaffolding and maintenance tools and equipment utilized are in safe working order. Observe safe operating and use procedures and practices.

Assist with the setup and takedown of materials and equipment for meetings, graduation and special programs.

Assist with snow removal.

Occasionally substitutes for security guard on weekends.

Work overtime as required and be on call for emergencies if needed.

Make regular routine security rounds inside and outside school buildings and around the campus.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel to workshops, meetings, or other necessary functions.

Willing and able to work in a physically demanding role (including able to lift up to 50 lbs, work on feet for several hours, able to work outdoors, and in inclement weather).

Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Specific:
-
Knowledge of the tools, materials, methods and practices used in the trade.
-
Basic knowledge of heating, ventilation, plumbing, fire alarm and electrical systems.
-
Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
-
Willingness to try or implement new practices and procedures with respect to all aspects of the job.

Must possess a valid 2A-1C Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer’s License or obtain one within 6 months of hire date.

Must possess a valid OSHA 30 training certificate or obtain one within six months of hire date.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches, and to work from oral or written instructions.
-
Ability to make simple estimates of time and materials.
-
Ability to observe what needs to be done and initiate action to perform tasks without being told.

Ability to instruct and direct the work of students.
-
Ability to climb and work from scaffolding or at some distance from the ground.
