Maintenance Technician

Company: Commonwealth Land Trust, Inc.   Location: Roxbury, Dorchester and Beacon Hill  

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance across multiple residential properties. This role requires strong technical skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently while supporting a diverse resident population.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Apartment turnovers
• Plumbing maintenance and repair
• Electrical maintenance and repair
• HVAC maintenance and repair
• Appliance repair
• Hanging doors; replacing locks and keys
• Carpentry, drywall, and painting
• Flooring installation and repair
• Janitorial services, groundskeeping, and snow removal
• Maintaining a high level of cleanliness and safety throughout all properties
• Responding to maintenance requests and emergencies in a timely manner
• Participating in on-call rotation for after-hours, weekend, and holiday emergencies

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

 

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Excellent customer service skills
• Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and work independently
• Ability to diagnose and remedy maintenance issues efficiently
• Reliable vehicle required to perform essential job duties
• Ability to work comfortably with individuals of varying racial/ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, languages, and socio-economic statuses
• Comfort working with populations including, but not limited to:
  • Chronically homeless individuals
  • People living with HIV/AIDS or Hepatitis C
  • Individuals with substance use disorders
  • Individuals living with mental illness
